VIP launch provides preview of high-end 213-home Holt development

Local VIPs and community organisations celebrated the launch of a major development bringing more than 200 much-anticipated new homes to Holt.
Partnership housing developer Lovell hosted the event on 18 July at its new Heath Farm development, providing one of the first opportunities to see these stylish properties which significantly extend choice for purchasers looking for a home in the attractive North Norfolk market town.
Guests included representatives from North Norfolk District Council, Norfolk County Council, community organisations and the project team working with Lovell to deliver the 213 new homes on the town’s south-eastern edge. Construction began in April this year with the first new homes for sale set to become available by the end of 2017.
“A great many people and organisations from the local community have given us their advice, co-operation and support to bring this fantastic development into being,” says Lovell regional managing director Simon Medler.
“With our new marketing suite about to be launched and the first homes set to be released for sale this summer, we wanted to thank those who have helped by inviting them to celebrate with us and have a preview of our new homes.”
The Heath Farm scheme will create 162 homes for open market sale - a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses - and 51 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership, including one-bedroom flats and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. Designed to be fully in keeping with the characterful architectural heritage of north Norfolk, the modern properties will feature traditional brick, render and flint finishes. The development is located a short walking distance from Georgian Holt’s town centre and is also within easy travelling distance of the North Norfolk coast. Also nearby are the peaceful woodlands walks of Holt Country Park and the renowned Gresham’s School, the leading co-educational boarding school.
Cllr Richard Price, North Norfolk District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, comments: “This is an important scheme for Holt and I welcome the additional affordable homes that it will provide for our community. The Council is focused on improving the number of affordable homes; we know there are 841 households on the housing list for Holt and 76 households have an urgent housing need and this scheme will go some way to meeting that demand.”
The overall housing scheme is due to be completed in 2023. Alongside the new housing, Lovell is building a new access road to Hempstead Road via the existing Heath Drive Industrial estate. This will relieve congestion by diverting traffic from Hempstead Road. Lovell completed work earlier this year on the new roundabout on the A148 bypass which forms the main access to the new development.
Other community benefits to be delivered by Lovell during the five-year construction programme will include a number of apprenticeships enabling local people to develop construction skills as well as investment and support for neighbourhood organisations, including schools, and community groups. “Working in partnership with the local community and ensuring that the positive effects of our development extend into the surrounding area and benefit a wide cross-section of the local population is a key part of our approach,” says Lovell’s Simon Medler.
