Stylish donation from Lovell brings home comforts to Gloucestershire charity
14 July 2016
A Gloucestershire charity has taken delivery of a bumper donation of stylish furniture and home accessories from local housing developer Lovell.
Lovell donated a range of furnishings – including two double beds, a three-seater sofa, bedroom furniture, side tables, two nests of tables and lamps - from one of the professionally-designed showhomes at its award-winning Minchinhampton housing development to Longfield, which supports people in Gloucestershire with life-limiting illnesses.
The items will now go on sale at the charity’s shops in the area, raising funds for the services provided by the charity at its purpose-built Minchinhampton centre, in the community and in people’s homes.
Longfield offers specialist services for people at all stages of their lives ranging from pain management and therapy groups to courses for families and carers. It also runs a Hospice at Home service. A recent report by the Care Quality Commission rated the care provided by Longfield as ‘outstanding’.
“We are delighted with Lovell’s generous donation. The sale of these goods will help pay for up to 50 hours of care by our hospice at home team, supporting a family and enabling them to fulfil their loved one’s wish to die at home,” says Ian Cherry, head of retail at Longfield.
Lovell regional sales manager Kelly Sharman adds: “We’ve built up close links with the community through our new development in Minchinhampton and are extremely pleased to be able to donate these show home items to Longfield, a charity which helps so many people in this area. The items have only been used as part of the show home so they’re in virtually mint condition. As the show property has now sold, they’re no longer needed and we’re delighted that they will now raise funds for such a worthwhile organisation.”
Following strong demand, Lovell now has just three homes left for sale at its Minchinhampton development which won a prestigious WhatHouse? Award last year. They include the four-bedroom detached Ilford former show home at £429,995 (£343,996 after a Help to Buy: Equity Loan*) and just two other properties: the four-bedroom detached Pickford and Rainford house styles, each priced at £475,000 (£380,000 after a Help to Buy: Equity Loan).
