Lovell volunteers pitch in at Cardiff community rugby festival

22 May 2017

Volunteers from Lovell swapped construction gear for sports kit to help out at the annual tag rugby festival organised by the Cardiff Blues regional rugby team.

Held at the team’s Cardiff Arms Park ground, the event brought together aspiring rugby players from schools across the area.

Five Lovell volunteers helped the event run smoothly by lending a hand with refereeing and time-keeping. They got involved as part of volunteering activities organised by Business in the Community Cymru for Give & Gain Day 2017.

“It was a brilliant event to get involved with and genuinely inspiring to see the children playing rugby with so much enthusiasm,” says Lovell community coordinator Bernadette Vickery. “As a Cardiff-based company, we aim to support local events and organisations wherever possible as part of our commitment to making a difference in communities.” Lovell’s corporate volunteering scheme enables employees to take time out from their jobs to work on community projects.

National housing developer Lovell is based locally at the Greenmeadow Springs business park, Tongwynlais. The company is currently working in west Cardiff, creating a brand-new urban village at the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site in partnership with the Tirion Group and Cadwyn Housing Association. The Mill, Canton, will transform the area with 800 stylish apartments and houses for open market sale and for rent.
