Lovell transforms home for Telford family in need
26 June 2017
Housebuilder Lovell has supported a deserving family who needed a life changing transformation of their home in Trench, which recently featured on the BBC One series ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’.
17 employees from Lovell, who are currently building new homes at The Oaklands development, were involved in this project, providing all of the flooring, plastering and roofing for the downstairs extension required for the Cooper family.
Lovell also donated £10,000 worth of building sundries required for the project, including building tools and vinyl flooring.
The Coopers required a downstairs extension for their 10 year old son Matthew, who has been paralysed as a result of a brain tumour. The family needed an entirely accessible ground floor area so that Matthew could be at home with his family, rather than remaining in a hospital until alternative accommodation could be found.
Richard Williams, a Lovell build manager involved in the project, said: “As soon as we heard about this opportunity to contribute towards such a worthy cause, we knew that we wanted to help.
“We had the materials we needed close at hand at the nearby development, so we knew that we could provide the much needed support for the Coopers.
“Everyone involved from Lovell enjoyed working on this project, which has helped to transform Matthew and his family’s life. The Coopers’ reaction to seeing their renovated home was phenomenal, which was great to witness during the Big Reveal.
“We are proud to have been involved with such a deserving cause, and we hope that Matthew enjoys his new living space.”
A spokesperson from the DIY SOS team said: “Lovell donated materials and labour for the Coopers, in order to help transform their home so that Matthew was able to return home for the first time in years!”
‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’ in Telford aired on BBC One on Thursday 22nd June at 9pm.
Lovell are also working extensively with their partner, Nuplace, in delivering a number of schemes for rent in Telford, with four sites currently under construction, and several more in the pipeline.
The Oaklands is a development of two and three bedroom homes on Matlock Avenue. The homes are ideal for growing families, young professionals and downsizers. Also ideal for commuters, the development has excellent transport links with the M54 and A5, offering road links to the East and West.
