Investors in People Gold for Cardiff housing developer Lovell

The regional team from Cardiff partnership housing developer Lovell celebrated at their recent staff conference after the region secured the coveted Investors in People (IIP) Gold standard, proving that it’s officially, ‘a great place to work’.

Following an in-depth analysis of how it supports its employees and helps them to flourish in the workplace, the achievement puts Lovell in South Wales and the South West in the top seven per cent of IIP-accredited organisations across the UK.

Lovell employs 46 office- and 42 site-based staff in the region where it is carrying out a number of major new-build housing and housing regeneration schemes. The company is based in South Wales at the Greenmeadow Springs business park, Tongwynlais, north Cardiff.

The IIP report singles out for praise Lovell’s high levels of employee engagement and the company’s success in ensuring learning and development opportunities are available to all employees. It also highlights the region’s ‘inspirational and effective leadership’, willingness to challenge norms by finding new and better ways of working and its effective use of collaborative and partnership working.

Key schemes for Lovell in South Wales include the third and fourth phases of Pobl Group’s £30 million Loftus Garden Village development, which is creating 250 new homes close to the centre of Newport. In Cardiff, work is progressing well on The Mill, Canton, which is creating a brand-new 800-home urban village in Canton, west of Cardiff city centre, transforming the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site with stylish apartments and homes. The development will feature 358 homes for open market sale by Lovell and 442 homes for rent which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association for the Tirion Group. The scheme is going ahead with the support of the Welsh Government and financial backing from the Principality Building Society, and is being developed by the Tirion Group in partnership with Lovell.

This autumn, Lovell also launched Oakfield Grange: a stylish £13.6 million 78-home development of high-quality homes on the former site of Llantarnam Community Primary School in Cwmbran. The development is creating 55 brand-new freehold two-, three- and four-bedroom houses for open market sale, significantly extending choice for local homebuyers.
