CUMBRIAN FIRST TIME BUYERS ARE CHOOSING NEW HOMES IN COCKERMOUTH
24 May 2017
COCKERMOUTH is becoming a destination of choice for first time buyers thanks to a great selection of new homes available with Help to Buy support.
The picturesque town – home to Lovell’s 217-home development, The Laureates – is proving popular with budding home owners, who may have previously thought the historic town was out of their price range.
Thanks to a wider choice of new build homes in the town and the availability of Help to Buy, which allows buyers who have saved up a 5% deposit to buy a new home, Cockermouth is a hotspot for first time home owners.
Clare Noakes, regional sales director at Lovell, said: “Cockermouth is a very special town where people from across the country love to visit and where Cumbrians would love to live.
“Many of the homes we’ve sold so far this year at The Laureates have been to first time buyers, drawn from surrounding towns and villages.
“A Help to Buy: Equity Loan is the ideal solution for those who may have saved up a modest deposit already, to choose a new home here in Cockermouth. It’s a great scheme which has so far helped over 90,000 first time buyers nationwide to achieve home ownership.”
Among the homes now available is the three-bedroom semi-detached Davenant, priced from £229,950, ideal for first time buyers, couples and families. With a Help to Buy: Equity Loan covering 20% of the initial purchase price, it can be purchased with a customer deposit of just £11,497 and a 75% mortgage for the balance.
The Davenant is a spacious home, with the entrance hallway leading off to the bright and airy kitchen/diner which has been finished to the highest standards, and the spacious living room, with French doors overlooking the garden.
There are three roomy bedrooms upstairs, the master boasting an en-suite, as well as the family bathroom.
The Laureates is a collection of 217 new homes set among extensive landscaping and boasting outstanding views of the Lake District. Phase two of the development is now underway and prospective house purchasers are urged to get in touch with the on-site sales team to learn more about Help to Buy.
